Hello - Possibly buying a 205 Gti

Hey guys,

I am thinking about taking the plunge and purchasing a 205 gti.  I was just wondering if there are any particular things I should be looking out for and if you could recommend a good mechanic that knows about pugs from this era.  I am based in Central Auckland.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't be afraid to check out a 405 Mi16 or BX 16v either

Actually yes!!! If I didn't have 2 4bie's and a BX... and a Triumph I would buy that in a heartbeat!

I would take a mi'd 309 over an mi'd 205 anyday tbh

Thanks for the welcome so far.  There is a red 205 gti I am looking at on trademe at the moment.  Seems to have done fairly low k's but will need a new gearbox.  Do any of you know anything about the car I am referring to?

Also how much would I be looking at for a new 'box?

hello . can i ask what is wrong with the gearbox ? does it not drive or is it crunching though gears

Yes it is that car.  I cannot access the buy/sell part of the site yet.

It is more the clutch is slipping at high revs.  Anyone with any info on the car?
