and more it came with a mi16 engine, loom 2 spare gearboxes and loads of other stuff.

That's what I was thinking.

I used to own that car, and put all the stuff in it with said 'old mate'. It's had frontal damage but that mi16 engine is a good score, came out a BX with 120000 on the clock

Correct re "old mate" I think.
I don't know the story or history ( and I'm not really interested) but he seems a really nice bloke and loves his froganese cars.

I bought it from some pirate (he had a parrot on his shoulder when I went to see him) out in Huia a while back. Had a munted pressure plate and smoked a bit (valve seals probably, never found out). The box, clutch and engine were swapped with spares and a UK spec engine respectively after I sold it to Old Mate. All the plastic trim pieces were removed and painted and phase 2 tail-lights fitted. Still has a BE1 box as I recall and runs ok.
I could be interested in the ECU and AFM from the jap-spec engine to see if it will stop my GTi from running rich, if you have them.
